Our history

Over the years, for the children

1992

CPE Foundation

The Aux Mille Jeux Early Childhood Center was founded on March 2, 1992. At the time, the daycare was subsidized by the Office des services de garde; today, we receive financial support from the Quebec Ministry of Families. This first facility (Serpentin), with 60 spaces, is located on Gaétan-Boucher Boulevard in Marcel-Simard Park in Saint-Hubert.

1997

CPE Transformation

With the introduction of the new family policy in September 1997, the daycare transformed into an early childhood center. In 1998, it diversified its services by adding 112 family-based care spaces to its license.

2001

Tambourin Project

In December 2001, plans for a new facility (Tambourin) were underway. 80 spaces were requested from the MFE, which authorized 68 on March 14, 2002, as the area was underserved. The CPE purchased land from the City of Saint-Hubert and had the new facility built on Rideau Street.

2003

Tambourin Opening

Children were welcomed there for the first time on September 2, 2003. 18 staff members joined the wonderful team at CPE Aux Mille Jeux to provide and maintain the quality of services offered daily.

2007

Service Reorganization

In June 2007, following a reorganization by the Ministry of Families, the CPE lost its family-based care component, and the family daycare providers joined a coordinating office. In 2008, the CPE received 8 additional spaces at its Tambourin facility.

2011

CPE Merger

In December 2011, CPE Aux Mille Jeux and CPE Mon Petit Édouard merged their operations through an asset transfer. At that time, the total number of spaces was 196.

2013

Additional Spaces

In 2013, the CPE responded to the Ministry’s call for proposals, which granted 8 additional spaces: 2 spaces for the Serpentin and Mon Petit Édouard facilities, and 4 spaces for the Tambourin facility.

2026

CPE Today

Currently, the CPE serves a total of 204 children, including 30 infants and 174 children aged 18 months to 5 years across its three facilities. This year, we are also welcoming 26 children with special needs and 7 children under CSSS protocols. In addition, the CPE employs 60 permanent and occasional staff members. We are members of the Montérégie Early Childhood Centers Network (RCPEM), the Quebec Association of Early Childhood Centers (AQCPE), Coop William, the CPE Prevention Mutual, the Montérégie CPE Employers’ Association (APCPEM), the National CPE Employers’ Association (APNCPE), and the Saint-Hubert Early Childhood Partners Table (TPPE).
